Installation Service and Assembly

We don't offer an installation service & assembly service on our BillyOh buildings. Instead, we provide you with comprehensive assembly instructions and pre-measured and cut panels that are designed by our expert craftsmen to fit perfectly and easily together.

We do recommend that any garden building is built on a level, solid base. Use a solid foundation like a concrete base, or a fast-fill gravel base. Alternatively, try out our amazing plastic Ecobase, available at checkout. We also offer assembly kits for those who don't own the tools required to assemble the BillyOh Switch.

Planning Permission

The Switch shed falls under 'permitted development' and won't require planning permission, as:

It's single-storey.
It isn't intended for permanent residential use.
It doesn't exceed a max eaves height of 2.5m.
It doesn't exceed an overall height of 4m (dual-pitched roof like an apex or -reverse apex) or 3m (any other type of roof, like a pent).
It won't take up more than 50% of your garden area (unless you have a very small garden)
It isn't built past the front wall of your house.

However, you should still check your local council's planning permission rules as they may vary from area to area.

What is the benefit of Pressure Treated as standard?

Pressure Treatment is an effective way of keeping the building long lasting. This is an extra step in the construction process where the wood is treated in a pressurised tank. Chemical preservatives are forced deep into the wood’s fibres to resist rot, decay and termites. When you upgrade to Pressure Treatment, the guarantee is extended from 10 to 15 years.

Does this building need a base?

Yes, all garden buildings should be assembled on a firm and level base. A base will ensure your building has a solid, long-lasting and well-drained foundation.

Our robust and simple to use EcoBase provides you with a firm, long-lasting foundation with suitable drainage for your garden building. It is quick and easy to install through the use of snap connectors that link the grids to each other.

What size base does this building need?

All garden buildings should be assembled on a firm and level base. A base will ensure your building has a solid, long-lasting and well-drained foundation.

If you want to build your own base, from a sturdy material such as concrete or flagstones, you can find minimum dimensions for each size of this building in the tech specs. In order to protect your building from moisture, you should leave a 2ft gap around the exterior of your building, so remember to take this into consideration when laying any sort of base.

Will I need planning permission for this building?

If the building is shorter than 2.5m tall you should not require planning permission, (unless it’s more than 50% of your garden or to be put in your front garden). Planning permission rules can vary by area so we would strongly recommend checking your local council rules before ordering from us.

How long does it take to assemble this building?

We do not offer an installation service on any of our buildings, as they are designed to be easy and simple to assemble. Using the assembly instructions included in your order confirmation and with a team of at least 2 people you can expect to have your BillyOh building up within a day, or as little as 3-4 hours with some of our smaller buildings.

How is the building delivered?

Our sheds are delivered in easy to build pre assembled panels. For your convenience the panels are no wider than 4ft so they can be easily maneuverable and fit through a standard doorway.

The Switch Pent comes with a durable 11mm tongue and groove floor and roof as standard. The interlocking roof provides a reliable covering for any building. The Tongue and Groove gives your building a more robust roof and a premium look and feel. 15mm roofing is also available to give your building a superior cover for whatever weather gets thrown at your shed.

The 11mm floor provides a durable, solid foundation and underfoot to the building. The 11mm option is ideal for less demanding and frequent usage and is suitable for lighter-intensity purposes. The 11mm tongue and groove timber make this a solid yet suitable, economical option. Upgrade to 15mm to provide a solid floor, ideal for heavier uses such as storing heavy items, workshop benches, or equipment.

The standard 11mm T&G walls give your building durable, weatherproof cladding, suitable for storage and light use all year round. The optional 15mm T&G upgrade gives you additional strength and rigidity for severe weather conditions and heavy use as a workshop or garden room.
